Revolutionary Letters by Diane di Prima
With a Preface by Francesca Wade and an Introduction by Sophie Lewis
Among the tumult and hopeful dreams of 1968, Diane di Prima began writing her ‘letters’, poems filled with a potent blend of utopian visions, ecological urgency and spiritual resonance.
By turns a manifesto for getting free, a manual for street protest, and a feminist broadside, Revolutionary Letters is as relevant to the convulsions and crises of today as it was at its inception fifty years ago.
Originally circulated via underground newspapers and stapled pamphlets, the letters were collected in a book in 1971. During the last years of her life, di Prima worked on the final iteration of this enduring project, collecting all of her previously published letters and adding new poems for this expanded 50th anniversary edition.
